Our Founders
Professor John Nolan
Director, Chief Scientific Officer
Professor John Nolan leads our scientific strategy. With over 20 years of research experience in the benefits of carotenoid and omega-3 fatty acid supplementation in humans, John has cultivated an extensive network of researchers, ophthalmologists, carotenoid and omega-3 producers, and dietary supplement distributors. John founded the Nutrition Research Centre Ireland (NRCI) in 2012 at the South East Technological University, and is a recipient of the prestigious European Research Council Starting Grant. Additionally, he chairs the Brain and Nutrition (BON) network, dedicated to advancing the prevention of macular diseases and reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease using nutrition. To date, John has published 116 peer-reviewed scientific papers.
Dr Alfonso Prado-Cabrero
Director, Chief Technical Officer
Dr Alfonso Prado-Cabrero leads our method development strategy, and is in charge of quality assurance and compliance. Alfonso is a biochemist who holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Seville (Spain). With over 20 years of experience in carotenoid analysis, biosynthesis, and derivatives, he also has research expertise in cardiac metabolism, cancer genetics, functional food development, and sustainable food production. In 2014, Alfonso joined the Nutrition Research Centre Ireland, where he has published studies on the compliance of dietary supplements with their label claims and on the quantification of meso-zeaxanthin in the human food chain. To date, Alfonso has published 25 peer-reviewed research papers.
Alan Quinlan
Director, Chief Commercial Officer
Alan leads our business and investment strategy. Alan holds an MBA from the Macquaire Business School, Sydney (Australia). Alan joined Prof Nolan and Dr Prado-Cabrero as an early stage start up expert to found Supplement Certified Ltd in 2022. Alan has successfully set up and scaled organisations with global reach in the areas of technology and financial services.
